Autumn Statement: AIM stocks may become ISA-able

The government will attempt to boost small cap funding and liquidity by consulting on plans to allow AIM market stocks to be held directly within tax-efficient wrappers such as ISAs.

The statement, is the latest on a long list of attempts to improve smaller businesses access to funding, from incentives on bank lending, and the 2012 Budget’s near-forgotten proposals on packaging small cap debt securities to meet institutional minimum investment limits.

Greater investment choice is welcome especially the fact the AIM shares have an IHT advantage. Would be attractive for elderly investors looking to shelter some assets albeit at a much higher risk level. Pity most advisers aren't licenced/qualified to advise on them though.
