Autumn Statement: Osborne cancels fuel duty increase

The government has cancelled the previously planned 3p fuel duty increase.
The decision had been widely expected. The increase in fuel duty, in addition to an oil price which continues to hover above $100 a barrel, would have hit rural communities hard.
The rise has already been postponed twice. Osborne said that the government had kept fuel duty rates on hold over the full course of its term
