Aviva Investors hires engagement head from Co-op
by James Poulter on Jul 30, 2013 at 12:30
Aviva Investors has hired Co-operative Asset Management’s Abigail Herron as head of engagement for its global responsible investment team.
Aviva's new hire will be responsible for developing the firm’s engagement strategy across all holdings and asset classes.
Herron has left the Co-op ahead of the completion of Royal London’s acquisition of its life insurance and asset management businesses, and will report to Aviva’s chief responsible investment officer Steve Waygood.
Waygood said: ‘Abigail brings with her a very strong track record in developing and implementing engagement programmes at the highest level and this background will help build on our achievements so far as we continue to apply our commitment to responsible investment and engagement across the whole scope of our business.’
At the Co-op Herron headed up the firm's corporate governance work and was responsible for engagement, analysis and developing their approach to environment, social and governance (ESG) policy.
She also oversaw the sustainability aspects of the Co-operative Insurance Society’s property portfolio, managed by AXA Real Estate Ivestment Management.
