Barclays bolsters Birmingham team with academia hire

Barclays has made the latest in a string of regional hires with a new private banker for its Birmingham team.

Cecelia Russell joins from an academia, as she spent the last seven years as a postgraduate programmes manager in the finance department of Warwick Business School.

The hire comes as part of Barclays’ Embark scheme, which aims to find talented people from different professions and helps them transition in to wealth management.

‘The experience she has gained in the world of academia will be of great value in her work as part of our team and we look forward to the fresh perspectives she will bring,’ said Ben Gulliford, regional director for Barclays Wealth & Investment Management in Birmingham.

Barclays has boosted headcount at offices around the country this year, most recently adding to its Aberdeen branch with the appointment of Elaine Hepburn from Aberdeen Asset Management and poaching Towry banker Debbie Cotton for its Reading hub.
