Barclays Glasgow manager ends seven-year spell
by Danielle Levy on May 29, 2013 at 10:24
Investment manager David MacNeil has departed Barclays after seven years at the bank.
The Glasgow-based investment manager has left the bank’s Wealth and Investment division, where he managed portfolios for private client portfolios, trusts and small corporates.
A spokesperson confirmed MacNeil’s departure, although the reasons for his exit are not known.
MacNeil had worked at Barclays from June 2006. Prior to that, he worked as an investment manager at HSBC and had previously worked at Gerrard Investment Management, which was later acquired by Barclays.
In late April, Barclays’ Wealth and Investment arm posted a 20% year-on-year rise in profits of £60 million, although this represented a 43% fall on the previous quarter.
Income grew 4% to £469 million, driven by high net worth business, while client assets hit a record £200 billion over the quarter, an 8% increase on the previous three months.
