Barclays Wealth credit, yachts and jets guru exits for B Capital
by Elsa Buchanan on Aug 23, 2013 at 07:31
Bob Atkinson, a credit structuring and super-luxe investments guru at Barclays Wealth, has joined B Capital.
The boutique private bank is planning a push into the credit space and has appointed Atkinson, Barclays Wealth's vice president of credit structuring, corporate jets and superyachts, to help with its drive.
Atkinson will be based at B Capital’s London office and joins the firm as a partner for lending solutions.
Barclays confirmed that Atkinson, who has spent over three decades in the bank's wealth arm, has departed and will be replaced by John Jones, who will move over from its corporate bank division to fill the void.
Speaking about his latest hire, founder and chief executive of B Capital Lorne Baring (pictured) told Wealth Manager: ‘We are building a stronger team to cover the lending space in the UK because the credit space in European banks is a disaster area.
'We’re specifically taking on a lending specialist whose hire will harness [the opportunity] to get best deals for clients. The main areas covered will be real estate, super yachts and jets.’
B Capital currently runs $500 million (around £320 million) on the behalf of 20 clients, and has more than 40 staff spread between the boutique's London and Geneva offices.
