Barclays Wealth hires Kleinwort man for Aberdeen office
by Drazen Jorgic on Feb 10, 2011 at 07:00
Barclays Wealth's Aberdeen office has hired private banker Chris Arbuthnott for its Aberdeen office.
Arbuthnott, who has spent two years at Kleinwort Benson's Edinburgh office, joins as vice president of private banking. He will be reporting to Barclays Wealth's Aberdeen office head Mark Flynn.
Prior to joining Kleinwort, Arbuthnott had a three year stint at private bank Arbuthnot Latham, where he was in charge of running private client portfolios and charity money.
Mark Little, Barclays Wealth head of Scotland, said Arbuthnot's hire was part of the company's recruitment drive -- which is part of the £350 million Gamma project -- to double the number of private bankers.
He said: 'Our Aberdeen business has undertaken considerable growth over the past 12 months, allowing us to expand the team in order to meet demand. Chris has a fantastic reputation and the level of experience we need to provide our superior level of customer care and to support continual growth.'
Arbuthnott's is the latest in a string of recruitments by Barclays Wealth in Scotland. Jonathan King and Simon Lewis joined as private bankers from Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management and Speirs & Jeffrey, while Ryan McDonald was recruited from Lloyds Banking Group.
