by Dylan Lobo on Jun 07, 2011 at 14:58
Barclays Wealth has hired Calum Brewster (pictured) from Lloyds to manage its 10-strong private banking team.
Brewster joins Barclays Wealth on 21 June as a director and will report to Craig Jamieson, who heads the firm's Glasgow office.
In career spanning 21 years Brewster's more recent position was head of customer experience and strategy at Lloyds Banking Group's life pensions and investment division. In this role he was responsible for a team of 150 staff focusing on customer insight, functional strategy and customer experience.
Prior to this he worked for Scottish Widows where he had spells as head of IFA servicing, regional sales director and head of distribution development. His career has also seen him work for Clydesdale Bank.
The recruitment drive signals Barclays Wealth’s commitment to Scotland as it continues on its aggressive growth campaign, which will see it undertake a £350 million global investment programme over the next five years, 40% of which is being invested in its people.
Craig Jamieson, head of the Glasgow office said: 'Calum’s appointment further strengthens that talent within the Glasgow office as we continue to raise the bar. We are passionate about being at the forefront of transforming the wealth management industry, and we are extremely well placed to do so.'
Barclays Wealth said it was looking to recruit five more private bankers in the coming months.
