Boucher returns to S&W as Deptford exits

Smith and Williamson Investment Management has hired Mark Boucher to head up the firm’s UK equities team.

Boucher, who returns to the company after leaving in 2009, will take up his position again as co-manager of the Enterprise fund alongside Rupert Fleming.

He will also become the lead manager of the firm’s UK Equity Growth trust , supported by Fleming, a move which has seen Charles Deptford (pictured) leave the company.

Meanwhile, Mark Swain is the assistant manager on this fund and will lead manage it for the foreseeable future.

Boucher left S&W in 2009 to run UK monies for a US multi-strategy hedge fund. He had previously worked with Fleming at Leopold Joseph/Butterfield from 2001-2006 on a similar UK mandate.

David Cobb, head of investment management and banking, said: ‘We have had great success in building up an impressive franchise in fixed income over the past few years and we are confident that this new structure for the UK equity team will put us in a much stronger position to mirror this success.’
