Brewin Dolphin names Algeo as managing director

Brewin Dolphin has named Henry Algeo as group managing director.

In his previous role as chief operating officer, Algeo was responsible for business support, information communication and technology and his new role will also encompass investment management.

Algeo started his career in 1974 at London broking firm Simon Coates and later joined Josias Cunningham, where he started out as partner before becoming managing director in 2002.

He joined Brewin Dolphin in February 2005 to launch the private client stockbroker’s Belfast office and was appointed regional managing director for Scotland and Northern Ireland in October 2007. He became a board member in October 2007 and joined the board of directors in July 2010.

Commenting on his appointment, Brewin executive chairman Jamie Matheson (pictured) told the stockmarket: ‘We are delighted that Henry will assume the additional responsibility, he has made a significant contribution to operations since December 2011 and he has become a valuable member of the board.’[

It couldn't happen to a nicer man. Henry Algeo is one of the most competent, honest and honourable individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with and like his predecessor David McCorkell is a true gentleman.

Well done and congratulations Henry! Thank goodness common sense rather than favourtism prevailed on this occasion.
