Brewin Dolphin veteran Vinay Bedi joins UBS Wealth
by Dylan Lobo on Oct 14, 2013 at 15:07
Former Brewin Dolphin North East veteran Vinay Bedi is joining UBS Wealth Management.
Bedi (pictured), who ended his 25-year career with Brewin in April, joins UBS's Newcastle office as an executive director.
The hire for UBS follows that of Andrew Elliot from Barclays Wealth in January. The office has also experienced some upheaval after four investment managers departed late last year - with three joining Rathbones to establish a new office for the firm and the other, Barney Hawkins, defecting to join Brewin Dolphin.
According to UBS, the firm's regional business has experienced 'rapid' growth, with invested assets increasing by 49% during the last four years.
Commenting on the appointment, UBS Wealth's head of domestic Nick Tucker said: 'Clients want to capitalise upon the investment opportunities that the promising UK recovery presents.
'As such, our regional businesses are thriving and we are absolutely committed to continuing this growth by providing our clients with high-quality investment strategies and asset allocation.'
Bedi added: 'The team in Newcastle has significant experience and expertise, so it is exciting for me to join when it is poised for further expansion.'
