Cazenove UK Smaller Companies
Markets
on Oct 15, 2012 at 17:01
Citywire Selection Verdict: The fund has a very impressive track record, consistently outperforming its benchmark. It returned in excess of the FTSE Small Cap index for a fourth calendar year in a row despite an earnings decline in UK smaller companies. Volatility is surprisingly low given the fund’s exposure to the Alternative Investment Market. This bias leaves manager Paul Marriage with a large tech overweight in the portfolio and an underweight position in financials. At relatively low valuations he foresees growth from the current low base in the smaller companies sector should the recent rally in equity markets be sustained.
