Coutts hires Credit Suisse PB intermediary head Matthew Spencer

Coutts has hired Credit Suisse Private Bank head of intermediaries Matthew Spencer.

Spencer will take up the same post at Coutts where he will be responsible for all business development activity via intermediaries, including lawyers, accountants, IFAs, consulting firms and mortgage brokers.

At Credit Suisse Private Bank, where he was director he had responsibility for intermediary strategy and implementation for the UK, Channel Islands, Switzerland, South Africa, Israel, Gibraltar, Nordic and Netherlands.

Prior to that, Spencer was director, head of private client and charities marketing at Jupiter Asset Management, where he was in charge for all new business generation and advertising.

Spencer will report to Sarah Wyse, head of UK business development, who said in a statement: 'He [Spencer] brings a breadth of knowledge to the bank and his appointment underscores the importance of positioning Coutts as an intermediary partner, creating and managing deal flow and articulating our intermediary strategy to the wider Coutts business.'
