Defaqto hires ex-Close man Potaczek to lead fund research
by Elsa Buchanan on Jan 23, 2014 at 12:27
Independent researcher Defaqto has appointed Frank Potaczek for the newly created role of head of insight and consulting for its fund management proposition.
Potaczek will head the team responsible for Defaqto’s fund management-related ratings, authoring publications and providing consultancy services to fund houses, DFMs and intermediary clients.
He joins from Intrinsic, the financial adviser network, where he was investment director since 2012. Prior to that, he was Close Brothers Asset Management's investment client director, a role he held for three years.
He also had spells at EEA Fund Management, and Legal & General where he was a wealth development director, alongside various manager roles at Threadneedle Investments, AXA Multimanager and F&C Asset Management.
Zahid Bilgrami, chief executive at Defaqto, said in a statement: 'We are very excited to welcome such an accomplished fund research expert to our growing consultancy team. Frank brings with him a detailed understanding of both the fund universe and the adviser space.
He added: 'We created this new role because we are placing even greater onus on the fund-related services we offer, in order to meet the growing requirements in this area among both advisers and fund managers. As an independent researcher, with a large in-house team of analysts and consultants, we are uniquely positioned to meet the needs of the financial services industry in this space.'
