Deutsche Asset & Wealth rebuilds Edinburgh with double hire

Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management is adding to its Scottish ranks with the double hire of John James and Mike Gore.

The duo have been appointed senior investment managers in Edinburgh and will join Charles Mullins, the office’s head of wealth planning.

Gore joins from Adam & Company Investment Management, where he was a senior investment manager and associate director. James will move over from Blackadders. He was also previously a member of Brewin Dolphin’s Cardiff charity team.

The hires follow a raft of departures from Deutsche’s Edinburgh office last year. In August, Deutsche lost office head Grant Milne, who personally managed £150 million in assets at the firm. He was followed by Gordon McAndrew, head of the firm’s Edinburgh-based discretionary team, David Henderson, Ian Smith and Gary Laing.

Their departures followed the news that Deutsche was planning to sell its regional Tilney business, including the Scottish offices.

It is now in final stage talks with Permira, which is poised to buy the Tilney business, as revealed by Wealth Manager in November.

Deutsche declined to comment.
