Duncan Lawrie scales up south-west presence with regional chairman

Duncan Lawrie Private Bank is scaling up its presence in the south-west with the appointment of a Cedric Clapp as regional chairman.

The move is the third senior hire in the region this month, following the creation of a regional director of Bristol role which was filled by Jeff Durant last June. He said he sees the city as a ‘fantastic area of growth’.

Clapp has worked in the south-west for the bulk of his career, working as a chartered accountant at Ernst & Young and later taking a job at Baker Tilly.

He retired in 2006 but has remained active in the community in a number of non-executive positions.

‘We see Bristol as a fantastic area of growth and our team here all understand the needs and expectations of the local people and businesses,’ Durant said.

‘We are committed to ensuring that we offer the south-west a more traditional and personal banking service, something that we feel is currently missing in the region.’
