Edinburgh Partners hires ex Swip investment boss Wood

by Dylan Lobo on Mar 10, 2010 at 08:54

Edinburgh Partners has hired former Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (Swip) investment chief Graham Wood

Wood, who was chief investment officer at Swip, left the firm last September on a review of its investment business following its parent Lloyds' purchase of HBOS.

According to the Herald, Wood will join as an investment partner at the firm and play a lead role in portfolio construction alongside Stephen Anderson.

Wood rejoins forces with Edinburgh Partners chief executive Sandy Nairn, who when serving as CIO at Swip recruited Wood in 2001.

Wood has worked for some of the most recognised investment firms in the Scottish capital. Before he joined Swip he had spells at Baillie Gifford and Standard Life Investments where he was head of UK and Continental European equities.

Nairn told the Herald: 'We had a dialogue with Graham. I have always had the highest regard for him. His track record speaks for itself.'

Edinburgh Partners was founded in 2003 by Nairn after he quit Swip. It controlled £6.7 billion in assets at the end of last year.

Its product range includes three investment trusts, the EP Global Opportunities Trust, Anglo & Overseas Trust and the European Investment Trust.

The boutique, which employs more than 60 people, recently lost the services of co-founder and head of UK equities Graham Campbell.
