Ex B&B boss Rod Kent joins Caledonia board
by Dylan Lobo on Sep 29, 2011 at 10:29
Former Bradford & Bingley chairman Rod Kent has joined the board of Caledonia Investments .
Kent, who takes up his post as a non-executive director on 1 October, spent the bulk of his career at Close Brothers where he was managing director for 28 years up to 2002. He also served as a non-executive director and chairman of M&G Group from 1995 up to its sale in 1999 to Prudential.
He served as chairman of Bradford & Bingley from 2002 up to the mortgage lender's demise in the credit crunch in 2008, which saw him admit there had been 'management failure' at the buy-to-let firm.
Kent is currently a non-executive director at the Grosvenor Group Ltd and a governor of the Wellcome Trust.
Caledonia has also appointed Robert Woods as a non executive director.
Woods joined P&O Steam Navigation Company in 1971 and was named chief executive in 2004. He relinquished the role in September 2006 following the P&O takeover by DP World.
The appointments come shortly after the investment trust firm completed the acquisition of Old India Partners, through which it plans to launch an Indian-focused Oeic.
Caledonia chief executive James Loudon said: 'I am delighted that Rod Kent and Robert Woods have agreed to join Caledonia as non-executive directors. They have both had outstanding business careers and their wide experience will be of very considerable benefit to our board.'
