Ex-Citywire AA-rated man replaces Scholefield as Barings equity head

Tim Scholefield (pictured) has left Baring Asset Management and been succeeded as head of equities by Citywire AA rated Jean-Louis Scandella. 

Scandella joins on June 2 June from French equity boutique Comgest, where he was part of the leadership team. Scholefield left the firm at the end of last month after more than seven years.

He will also serve as a member of the group’s investment committee and chair of the global sector teams.

In his new role, Scandella will report to Barings’ chief investment officer Marino Valensise. He will be responsible for equity teams based in both London and Hong Kong.

'We are pleased to welcome Jean-Louis to Barings. He has a deep knowledge of equity investing, with experiences both as a business leader and as a fund manager, ' Valensise said in a statement.

During his tenure with Comgest, Scandella had served on several emerging market focused funds, including the Magellan C Comgest Growth Emerging Markets US Dollar and Comgest Growth Global Emerging Markets Promising Companies .
