Ex-Cofunds boss Davis named Kames chief executive
by James Phillipps on Sep 24, 2013 at 10:06
Former Cofunds head Martin Davis has joined Kames Capital as chief executive officer (CEO).
His appointment follows the fund group’s decision to split the CEO and chief investment officer (CIO) roles in March after Andrew Fleming, who previously held both roles, stepped down.
Davis will work alongside Stephen Jones, who replaced Fleming as CIO, and report into Sarah Russell, CEO of Aegon Asset Management.
Russell said: ‘I am pleased that Martin is joining Kames Capital. His experience of leading and building financial services companies make him the ideal choice to take the business forward in the next stage of its evolution.
‘His knowledge of the UK asset management market, and his deep understanding of the client perspective, will enable him to strengthen Kames’ competitive position and grow our business with retail and institutional investors across a diverse range of asset classes.’
Prior to Cofunds, Davis held senior roles at Zurich, heading its international life operation, and he also had a stint as CEO of Openwork, having previously worked at Misys, Corillian and Reuters.
