FCA's Griffith-Jones: 'there is more work to be done on suitability'

He added that a lack of trust of financial services amongst consumers, particularly in the wake of the Libor and PPI scandals, remains an issue, and called on the industry to work with the regulator to ensure that trust is restored. He said winning the respect of consumers and a mutual respect between the regulator and firms was central to establishing a strong financial services sector.
With a stream of oncoming European regulation, most notably MiFid II and PRIPS, Griffith-Jones said the FCA would do all it could to make the UK’s voice heard and avoid unnecessary expense and change for companies that have to comply with new rules.
