Former Barclays investment manager launches wealth boutique

Former Barclays investment manager Simon Alexander Legge has launched Shard Capital Partners, offering discretionary asset management for high net worth individuals and institutional investors.

The investment boutique, which will also offer equity and bond brokerage, was established by Legge, who formerly worked at Covalence Asset Management for three years as director.

Shard’s service for private clients comprises discretionary management, advisory management and execution-only.

For institutional clients, the firm says it trades most major markets, sectors and currencies.

In terms of intermediaries, Shard can structure, trade and hold a range of portfolio, funds, investments and services globally.

Shard has also opened with a European options desk, with options transacted on the months, quarters and years of the power
futures market.

Prior to working at Covalence and Shard, Legge was an investment manager at Barclays Wealth. He previously worked at Merrill Lynch as an investment consultant, and before this, was at UBS Wealth Management for a year.

The launch of Shard follows that of family office Mountstreet, headed by ex-Brooks Macdonald director James Keen, and Sorbus Partners, launched by Max Thowless-Reeves from UBS.
