Former chief whip Andrew Mitchell joins Investec
by Alex Steger on Oct 14, 2013 at 09:46
The Conservatives' former chief whip Andrew Mitchell has joined Investec as a consultant, according to the Financial Times.
Mitchell (pictured) stood aside as the Tories’ chief whip earlier this year after being accused of calling a policeman a ‘pleb’ outside Downing Street.
He will join Investec as a senior strategic adviser, which the FT said would involve 10 days work for which he will receive £60,000.
The paper reported that Mitchell’s contract has a 24-hour release clause in the event that he is asked to return to a high-profile political role.
Mitchell told the FT: ‘I’m looking forward to working with Investec and the very talented team there.’
