Former Schroders multi-asset boss joins UBS

UBS has named Schroder’s former head of multi-asset for continental Europe Gregor Hirt as its new chief investment officer for global investment solutions.

Hirt stepped down from his role with Schroders in March after seven and a half years with the group.

His departure prompted several changes within the investment firm’s multi-asset division, which saw lead managers appointed to the two funds he previously ran.

Hirt has been appointed by UBS to serve as chief investment officer within the firm’s global investment solutions division and will cover Europe and Switzerland.

This role will see Hirt act as managing director for multi-asset in the same two regions, while also being global head of core products.

UBS said on a day-to-day basis Hirt will be responsible for managing global balanced strategies and contributing to asset allocation strategy for the global investment solutions group.

Commenting on the appointment, Andreas Koester, head of asset allocation and currency at UBS, said: ‘Gregor brings significant experience in multi-asset investing which will be a great benefit to our clients.

‘He will join our asset allocation committee as a voting member and his expertise will contribute to setting strategy across our global investment solutions area.’

Hirt brings with him 18 years of investment and management experience. This includes time in New York, Zurich and London.

Earlier in his career Hirt, who has 18 years' experience, had worked for Credit Suisse in its Multi Asset Class Solutions team before joining Schroders in August 2006.
