Fund of the Week: BlackRock World Mining Trust

Mining stocks have been on something of a joy ride in the recovery, with all manner of hard commodities sitting near their all time highs. Can this continue, or are we in danger of it falling back?

Well Evy Hambro, manager of the BlackRock World Mining Trust , believes that inefficiencies in the supply of these commodities, coupled with persistent urbanisation in emerging nations mean that prices are well supported at their current levels.

There is also the looming threat of interest rate rises in the West making our shores a less appealing bet. With the majority of commodity demand coming from emerging nations, where they are already in full swing with their interest rate rise programs, it would appear to be a attractive alternative.

Don't be fooled, investment in commodity related companies is about as choppy as any out there, so don't invest without considering how much you are prepared to loose and most importantly invest for the long-term.
