James Henderson

Born in 1961 in the United Kingdom, James Henderson studied at Cambridge University (1979 – 1982) and obtained an MA (Hons) in Economics. He began his career in 1983 at Henderson Global Investors as a trainee fund manager and went on to become a unit trust, investment trust and assistant investment manager in 1985. James became manager of the Lowland Investment Co. Plc in 1990 and associate director of UK investment trusts in 1999. In 2003 he was manager of the Law Debenture Corporation Plc. James is currently Portfolio manager of the Henderson Equity Income Fund (2005) and Henderson Opportunities Trust Fund (2007). He applies a value and contrarian approach for his funds. He enjoys shooting, tennis, rugby, soccer and boxing when he is not working.

Objective

The Fund aims to provide dividend income with prospects for both income and capital growth over the medium to long term by investing primarily in United Kingdom companies. The Fund may invest in fixed interest and convertible securities as well as ordinary shares. The Fund may invest in other transferable securities, money market instruments, deposits and units in collective investment schemes. Derivatives and forward transactions may be used for the purposes of efficient portfolio management only.
