Matt Evans joined Threadneedle Investments, in October 2013, as a portfolio manager. He is co-manager of the Threadneedle UK Smaller Companies Fund, the Threadneedle UK Mid 250 Fund and a range of small cap institutional portfolios. He is also lead manager of the UK Ethical Equity Fund and responsible for stock analysis and idea generation for the wider team with research responsibility for construction and house builders. Before joining Threadneedle Matt was a Fund Manager at Legal & General Investment Management specialising in UK Small Caps. He gained a degree in Geography and Sports Science from Loughborough University.

James Thorne

London-born James Thorne holds a degree in oceanography and a masters in instrumentation and analytical science. He began his investment career as a Japanese equities analyst with Abbey Life in 1998, moving to Hill Samuel in 1999 to work in the UK small cap sector where he has remained. He worked as an analyst with 3i from 2000 to 2005, and then moved to Barings where he managed their UK small cap fund. He currently works for Columbia Threadneedle, where he runds the UK Smaller Companies Fund having joined the company in 2010. Away from the office James enjoys the cinema, theatre, music and golf.

Objective

The aim of the Fund is to achieve capital growth by investing primarily in a selection of medium sized companies, which are constituents of the FTSE 250 (ex Investment Trusts) Index. If desirable, the Fund may also invest in companies which are not included in that index, and may hold cash and/or money market instruments.
