Valentina Chen joined Vontobel Asset Management in August 2014. She is portfolio manager of the Vontobel Fund - Emerging Markets Local Currency Bond and focuses on interest rates and currencies in emerging markets. Prior to joining Vontobel, Chen worked for nine years at Aviva Investors. As head of local currency debt she managed emerging-market-debt local-currency portfolios. In this role she has also launched and managed emerging-market local-currency inflation-linked bond funds since 2010. Chen earned a Master of Science in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Economics, Politics and International Relations from the University of Warwick. She is a CFA and CAIA charterholder.
The Sub-Fund's assets are invested in bonds and similar fixed and variable rate debt instruments, including convertible bonds and warrant bonds issued by various public and/or private borrowers from an emerging market, whereby a maximum of 25% of the Sub-Fund's assets may be invested in convertible and warrant bonds.
