GLG co-founder Pierre Lagrange has joined forces with his fashion-designer boyfriend Roubi L’Roubi to buy iconic Savile Row tailor Huntsman.
Huntsman, which has been plying its trade for 163 years, has a joint venture with Alexander McQueen and designed the white tie outfits for Hugh Boneville’s Lord Grantham character in Downton Abbey.
The tailor was founded in 1849 by Henry Huntsman and has had an enviable list of clients over the years including: Sir Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Bing Crosby and Sir Laurence Oliver and Humphrey Bogart.
Lagrange and L’Roubi are buying the business from private investors, who have owned the firm since 2005.
L’Roubi, who will serve as the creative director and co-owner of Huntsman, said in a statement posted on the tailor's website: ‘I am proud and privileged to be able to uphold the tradition of supreme craftsmanship which has distinguished Huntsman for more than 160 years. ‘
