It appears there is a list of 12 core tracker funds, priced between 0.06% and 0.18%.

There are an additional 30 super clean funds on the wider 150 list.

As I expected, the loyalty bonuses have pretty much been increased by 0.5% across the board, so leave things alone and not much is going to change in terms of overall fees (manager + platform). The increased loyalty covers Hargreaves 0.45% fee. I'll obviously take a look at the discounted fee funds to see if it's worth switching but as it stands I'm going to be approx £10 per year worse off, on approx £50K investments. Only HSBC 250 and CF Ruffer are going to cost me more.

These are annual management fees - not ongoing cost of funds (TERs in old money). So M&G Recovery is 0.65% PLUS 0.22% = 0.87% OCF (but we all know that doesn't include costs of portfolio turnover). Come on everyone - stop hiding these costs - or else you should change your terminology to DIRTY super clean. Source of figures: HL.co.uk

Good point Kevin, what would be really helpful would be a comparison of the super clean funds pre and post including all the costs and discounts. Just giving the HL sales line is not really very helpful.

What would really help is a comparison of fund charge + platform charge. Then we could see the total cost of holding these funds.

As a side issue has anyone else noticed that Best are charging their platform charge on shares investment trusts and etf's as well as funds?

@ PeteBrom - I agree - the truth is inconvenient to the marketing message that is still being pushed at the investing public. At some point, either a smart journalist or a forward thinking data provider will break with the pack and tell the truth. So come on FE or Morningstar (or Wealth Manager?) - tell the truth about the costs of fund management and don't simply push the same old line fed to you by the investment industry. Costs matter and just because some costs are not that easy to see, doesn't mean they are not important.

The costs are on the HL site in black and white – why are you waiting for a journalist to “uncover” it. For example, the M&G Recovery clean fund costs you 0.75% Fund Manager Fee + 0.22% TER + 0.45% HL Fee - 0.1% Loyalty Bonus = 1.32% OR you can go with the inclusive fund that gives a larger loyalty: 1.5% + 0.15% + 0.45% - 0.75% = 1.35%. Previously the costs were 1.5% + 0.15% - 0.25% = 1.4%, so both of the new costs are now lower. Whether you think those costs are justified or you think you’re being ripped off, is a completely different subject but at least it’s much clearer who’s getting what slice of your investment – and now it’s a smaller slice than it was!

Or you could go to Alliance Trust Savings and pay £90 pa for the platform and then 0.75% pa for the fund 0.96% TER. taking thinblackduke's figures anyone with more than £25,000 invested would be paying more with Hargreaves.

I agree that things are now much clearer and hope that investors use this to find the most cost effective way yo invest.
