by Danielle Levy on Jan 22, 2014 at 09:54
Henderson Global Investors has hired Rob MacQueen from M&G as a senior portfolio manager on the £1.3 billion Henderson UK Property fund .
He will work alongside co-managers Marcus Langlands Pearse and Ainslie McLennan (pictured), assisting with both the fund’s active acquisition programme and business plans across its portfolio. Henderson's property business runs some £12.7 billion in assets.
MacQueen joins from M&G Real Estate where, as associate director, he managed in excess of £750 million, acquiring and managing assets for a number of their house funds. Rob has over eight years' real estate experience in the retail, office and industrial sectors.
Commenting on the appointment, Langlands Pearse, director of property, said: 'His experience throughout the UK market will be hugely beneficial as we focus on expanding the scale of the Henderson UK Property unit trust in 2014.'
The fund invested over £400 million over the course of the year following significant inflows. Recent purchases include an M&S in Nottingham, a prime retail unit in Kilburn and a supermarket in Ripley, Derbyshire, reflecting the fund’s strategy to up exposure to rebased rents in the retail sector.
Over the three years to the end of December the Hendeson UK Property fund has posted a 14.3% return versus a 20.2% rise by the IPD UK All Property Monthly index, according to Lipper.
