IMA makes series of hires as it boosts regulatory role
by David Campbell on Sep 02, 2013 at 14:03
The Investment Management Association (IMA) has recruited Richard Metcalfe of the International Swaps & Derivatives Association (ISDA) for the new role of director of institutional regulation.
Metcalfe, who was previously deputy for Europe, the Middle East and Asia at ISDA, will fill one of three new regulatory roles at the organisation, created following a review of its operations earlier this year.
The IMA’s current director of authorised funds and tax Julie Patterson will work alongside him as head of retail and funds regulation, while current institutional director Guy Sears will lead the newly-formed Risk, Compliance and Legal Directorate.
‘We need to ensure our internal organisation focuses on our strategic objectives as effectively as possible,’ said IMA chief executive Daniel Godfrey (pictured).
He added: ‘We have made swift and good progress in 2013 towards our strategic goals, taking important steps forward in key areas such as greater transparency on charges and costs, stewardship and engagement by investors in the companies in which we invest, and working more closely with regulators, policy makers and all stakeholders.
‘We are now better structured to take the IMA’s work forward through 2014 and beyond, ensuring we’re concentrating on the objectives that will have the greatest impact on the industry’s ability to deliver vital outcomes to individuals and the economy.’
