Invesco Perpetual reunites Barnett with Aviva fund manager

Invesco Perpetual has recruited Robin West from Aviva Investors, where he managed UK equity funds.

West will join Invesco Perpetual on 8 July 2014 as a fund manager in the UK small-cap team. Before Aviva, West was a UK smaller-companies fund manager at Invesco Perpetual between 1995 and 2002.

Invesco Perpetual has also hired Tim Marshall as a senior investment analyst on the UK equities desk.

Marshall will have responsibility for investment analysis within the large-cap UK equities team, and joins from Redburn where he was a transport analyst and partner.

‘I am delighted that Robin West joins the team as a fund manager and Tim Marshall joins as a senior investment analyst,’ commented Mark Barnett, head of UK equities at Invesco Perpetual.

‘Robin has extensive experience as a small-cap fund manager, with an excellent track record. Tim was a highly rated airline analyst during his years at UBS and latterly at Redburn. He is well known to the UK team from his career on the sell side.

The Invesco Perpetual UK equities team will be further strengthened by the high-calibre talent we have recruited.’

Citywire AA-rated Barnett’s (pictured) Invesco Perpetual UK Strategic Income fund has returned 58.5% over the past three years, a top-decile performance within his UK Equity Income sector where the average manager has returned 37.7% through the same period.

West’s former fund, Aviva Investors UK Smaller Companies , has returned 60.1% over the past three years compared with a peer-group average of 48.7%.
