Investec Wealth hires nine from Deutsche & Barclays
by Danielle Levy on Nov 07, 2013 at 10:27
Investec Wealth & Investment (IW&I) is expanding its Edinburgh and Glasgow teams with nine hires from Barclays and Deutsche.
The latest recruitment drive follows a string of hires in recent months and will see David Kerr and Lisa Brown joining as investment directors in IW&I's Glasgow office from Barclays. Stephen Cotter, a financial planning director and Mary Young, an associate investment director, also join from Barclays, alongside three assistants.
IW&I, led by Jonathan Wragg (pictured), has also benefited from the uncertainty hanging over Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management as it looks to sell off its regional network, predominantly the Tilney business. Gary Laing joins as an associate investment director, along with an assistant from Deutsche.
Tom Street, head of investment management at IW&I, said: 'While some rivals are retreating, we are expanding our presence in Scotland, which we view as a vital and highly attractive market.'Back in September, IW&I's Glasgow office hired Alastair Cumming, Clifford George, George Hunt and David Paterson from Barclays. This followed the announcement in August that Grant Milne, David Henderson, Gordon McAndrew and Ian Smith were to join IW&I's Edinburgh office from Deutsche.
