Investec Wealth poaches four from Barclays' Glasgow team
by Danielle Levy on Sep 09, 2013 at 07:30
Investec Wealth & Investment's Scottish push has gathered steam after a quadruple hire from Barclays’ Glasgow team, with three more set to join the departing Clifford George.
Director George Hunt and Alastair Cumming, a vice president, have resigned from Barclays, with plans to join Investec Wealth & Investment’s Glasgow office. Hunt and Cumming will join alongside ex-associate director David Paterson, who left Barclays earlier this year, and Clifford George, who left the bank last week, taking the total to four new recruits for Investec's Glasgow hub. It is understood that they will join as senior investment managers.
George’s departure follows those of David MacNeil, Duncan Gourlay and David Ridland from Barclays’ Glasgow team earlier this year. Meanwhile, a regional management restructure saw Mark Little’s responsibilities as managing director of Scotland and Ireland taken up by Calum Brewster.
Commenting on the hires, Tom Street, head of investment management at Investec Wealth & Investment, said: 'These appointments are further evidence of our conviction that Scotland offers good growth potential for our business.'
Investec Wealth & Investment, led by Jonathan Wragg (pictured), has been busy elsewhere in Scotland with a quadruple hire from Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management’s Edinburgh team, including its office head Grant Milne.
In the interim, a spokesperson for Barclays said Cumming and Hunt's responsibilities would be covered by the team.
