Jenkins' old job to disappear in Barclays executive shake-up

Antony Jenkins' old job title at Barclays will no longer exist as the bank tries to restore its image in the wake of the Libor scandal

Jenkins, who was chief executive for retail and business banking before becoming overall chief executive across the group at the end of August, announced the news alongside details of a shake-up of the bank's executive committee.   

The committee welcomes two new faces, Barclaycard chief Valerie Soranno Keating and current retail banking chief Ashok Vaswani.

In his new capacity Vaswani will take responsibility for the retail and business banking products and services globally. Curt Hess, chief executive for Europe retail and business banking, will report to him.

Keating, meanwhile, will retain responsibility for cards and payments globally.

All members of the Barclays executive committee will report to Jenkins.

‘These changes reflect the importance of our retail businesses for Barclays and will make for a better balance between business and functional representation on the executive committee,’ said Jenkins.

'This strengthening of the executive committee will enhance our ability to execute the Transform programme, and move Barclays towards our goal of being the "Go-To" bank.'
