JP Morgan investment trust head Barron to exit

David Barron, JP Morgan Asset Management's head of investment trusts, has decided to leave the firm.

Barron has served with JP Morgan for 17 years and has been a key member of its UK Funds Leadership team for a large portion of that time.

He has led JP Morgan's £6.6 billion closed-end funds business since 2003, helping to expand its reach within the UK market and more broadly, Barron has lifted the profile of the investment trust sector among retail and professional investors.

Jasper Berens, head of the asset manager's UK funds business, will take on direct responsibility for investment trusts until a replacement for Barron is found.

Confirming the departure, Berens (pictured) said: 'I’d like to thank David for his contribution to building our investment trust business to the leading position it holds today and wish him well for the future.

'David’s successor will be announced in due course.'
