Jupiter rejigs Japan equity team
by Robert St George on Oct 21, 2013 at 11:18
Carter has been Somerville’s deputy manager since November 2011, and he also runs the Japanese portion of the Jupiter Global Managed fund. Somerville (pictured) will remain as manager of the £612 million Jupiter Japan Income fund.
Over the past three years, Jupiter Japan Select has lagged the Topix with a return of 23% to the index's 28%.
‘This is a well-deserved promotion for Dan, who has proven his abilities as a fund manager since joining the team over five years ago,’ said Somerville. ‘I look forward to us continuing to work closely together, and am sure he will be a great success in his new role.’
‘It has been an invaluable experience to work with Simon and be part of the success of the Jupiter Japan team,’ Carter added. ‘I am looking forward to continuing that work with the new added responsibility of managing the Jupiter Japan Select Sicav. This is a very exciting time to be investing in Japan as Abenomics gives hope for a brighter future for the Japanese economy and equity market.’
Carter formerly worked on Japanese equities at Odey Asset Management and Baillie Gifford.
