Killik deal paves way to pick direct Asian stocks for private clients

Killik & Co has partnered with Asia-based Quam Research to initiate coverage of individual Asian stocks for clients seeking Asian stock ideas.

Killik has joined forces with the research division of Hong Kong-listed Quam Group and has made Quam's research available to existing clients seeking to invest directly in Asia-based companies. Killik itself owns a small stake in Dubai-based brokerage MAC Capital, which in turn has a stake in Quam Group.

Mick Gilligan, head of research at the firm, said: 'It is great to give UK-based private investors information about individual stock ideas. We have certainly seen very strong demand for Asia and emerging markets funds and London-listed emerging market direct equities. A number of professional investors have been buying Asian stocks directly. The idea is to make information more widely available for people without a professional investor background.' 

He added: 'If people want a broker relationship it can come through ourselves or they can go direct through Quamnet.com with a subscription.'
