Scottish Widows fund selection Wealth Manager cover star quits
by James Phillipps on Oct 10, 2013 at 08:09
Jake Moeller, a senior manager in Scottish Widows fund selection team is set to leave the bank next month.
The former Wealth Manager cover star, together with Jonathan Beckett, led the fund research behind Scottish Widows' £160 billion fund platform, which they estimate holds between 10% and 20% of many of the UK’s best known funds.
Moeller (pictured) is set to take a strategic research role at Reuters and will leave in mid-November.
Iain McGowan, head of fund development, reporting and analysis at Scottish Widows said: 'I can confirm that Jake Moeller, senior fund assessment manager will be leaving Scottish Widows in early November to pursue other career challenges.
'Jake has been a key member of my team and has played a major role in developing our approach to fund assessment and reviewing a wide set of funds. Although we will be sorry to see him leave, we wish Jake all the very best for the future. We will be working on finding a replacement in due course.'
In his time at the bank, Moeller helped devise its P6 investment process, which screens funds by placing a 20% weighting on their portfolio, process, philosophy and people and 10% apiece on performance and profile.
Prior to Scottish Widows, he was head of investment research at Alico/AIG Life for six years, where he managed its in-house fund of funds range, and he had prior stints at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Axa.
The story previously reported that Moeller was co-head of research at Lloyds. While this was the case at the time of the cover star profile, the job has since moved under the Scottish Widows banner.
