About Ajay Gambhir
'You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.' So said Albert Camus, author of L'Etranger, Ajay Gambhir's favourite book. This is not a bad aphorism for a manager who says his ambition is just to enjoy life and describes his investment style as adaptable, willing to switch between growth and value stocks. Gambhir's style of investment is bottom-up stock-picking. He identifies companies which he believes are either likely to experience a fundamental change in their operating environment or structure, or where he perceives the company's stock to be severely mispriced. Of particular interest are ideas which are contrary to consensus thinking, and these ideas can encompass both value and growth stocks. Ajay was head of the JP Morgan European High Alpha team, and he launched a range of high risk, high return European and UK equity products, and left the company in 2007. He then joined RWC where he runs the RWC Europe Absolute Alpha Fund.
