About Robert Barnard-Smith
Robert Barnard-Smith began his career as a trainee accountant with Prudential in 1982, switching to Citigroup 4 years later to take on an assistant fund manager role. A year as treasury manager for the NHL Group followed before Schroders appointed him fund manager in 1992. Barnard-Smith’s 9 years with the group included a stint managing the Schroder Corporate Bond. He joined Legal and General in 2001 where he adopts a top-down strategy for the Legal and General Managed Income Trust. Born in Bedfordshire in 1963, Barnard-Smith studied Accountancy and Economics at the Central London University. He counts golf, wine and travel among his main interests.
