Marlborough gives AA-rated Hallett's UK fund a multi-cap makeover
by Eleanor Lawrie on Jan 02, 2014 at 12:51
Marlborough Fund Managers has renamed Richard Hallett's UK Leading Companies dund as the Marlborough UK Multi-Cap Growth Fund, a move the company said would make its investment process clearer for clients.
'The multi-cap nature of the strategy has been at the heart of the fund’s long-term outperformance and by reflecting it in the name we are providing greater clarity for investors,' Nicholas Cooling, deputy chairman of Marlborough Fund Managers said.
'It also highlights the fact that this fund is from the same stable as the Marlborough Multi Cap Income fund , which has attracted strong support among investors in the equity income arena.'
The £90 million fund’s performance is first quartile over three years, returning 42.5% up to 1 January versus a 31% gain in the benchmark, earning Hallett a Citywire AA-rating.
It invests in a portfolio of 50-70 companies that are ‘best in breed’ from a spectrum of large, mid and small-cap companies.
