'Mass brawl' erupts at Brewin Dolphin Xmas party, court hears

A Brewin Dolphin broker ignited a ‘mass brawl’ after he discovered his fiancée had cheated on him with a colleague, according to reports.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard broker Robert Nicolson was accused of attacking IT employee Anthony Field and his actions allegedly sparked a brawl at the company’s Christmas party last year, according to the Daily Mail.

The court heard that Nicolson acted as the ‘fire-starter’ in the fight, during which Field was punched, kicked and glassed, said the paper.

Field suffered two black eyes and facial injuries during the fight at the Queen of Hoxton bar in East London.

Brewin Dolphin data analyst Graham Sutherland also allegedly joined in the fight and another colleague, Gary Jones, has admitted to smashing a glass bottle over Field during the fight.

The court heard that Nicolson confronted Field on the dancefloor after he had discovered he was having an affair with his future wife, Alex Miller. It escalated as Nicolson's friends joined in against Field.

Nicolson told the court: ‘The argument was between Anthony Field and I, and no-one else. No-one else was supposed to get involved.’
