Miton hires former JPM trust head Barron

David Barron, the former JP Morgan Asset Management investment trust boss is joining Miton as director of investment trusts and product strategy.
Barron left JPMAM earlier this year and in his new capacity, he will be working closely with the board and the fund manager teams in a strategic role.
Miton’s acquired Psigma Asset Management in a £13 million deal in July, which saw Ian Chimes, PSigma AM's managing director, move across to head Miton's enlarged UK sales and marketing operation.
Commenting on the appointment, Ian Dighé, executive chairman of Miton said the group was scaling up its resources to address the ‘growing range’ of customers.
He added: ‘We are delighted that our clients and board will benefit from David’s considerable reputation and success at a time when the status quo in closed end funds is under both growing challenge and increasing opportunity. I am looking forward to David’s contribution to the board’s deliberations.’
The new director, who has over 30 years’ experience, was previously head of JPMorgan AM’s investment trust business, having had prior stints at Fleming Investment Management, Merrill Lynch Europe and Hambros Bank.
