A day in the life of: Antony Keen, PM+M

A day in the life of: Antony Keen, PM+M

Antony Keen shares a day in his life as partner and director of PM+M's wealth management division.

My alarm goes off: 6:45am

I’m responsible for: The delivery of financial planning and wealth management services at PM+M.

The worst part of my job: I don’t have one; I love my job (most of the time!).

The best part of my job: Helping clients realise their goals, meeting new clients and contacts and seeing the PM+M group grow year-on-year.

What’s the biggest challenge you face day-to-day?

The recruitment of new team members. I am lucky to be surrounded by some very talented people. At PM+M we embrace apprentices and the younger generation. Now over 10% of our team are under 20, which makes me feel very middle aged!

Tea or coffee?

Definitely coffee, caffeine is a must!

Typical lunch choice?

A boring sandwich.

How long is your commute to work?

20 minutes.

After work:

I enjoy reading and the very occasional visit to the gym.

How do you see the wealth management world in 10 years’ time?

In some ways much the same; you can never replace the value of face-to-face contact and meetings, so I don’t think I will be replaced by a robot anytime soon. Technology will always dictate how advice and information is delivered and we will see links developing between back office systems and platforms to the likes of Amazon Echo and Google Home.

What are you reading at the moment?

For business: 104 Social Media Content Ideas. For pleasure: The Whistler by John Grisham.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

That would be telling... everyone needs a secret! OK, I like Star Wars and still want to be a Jedi Knight when I grow up.

Which three people would you invite to a dinner and what would you cook?

I’m not sure anyone would turn up for my cooking. I did get a bacon toaster for Christmas though, so I would invite people round for breakfast. My three guests would be Warren Buffett, Richard Branson and Gordon Ramsey (in case the bacon toaster doesn’t work).

What do you get up to out of the office?

I love spending time with family and friends, going on holidays and weekends away, and enjoying red wine and beer.
