Aberdeen's Spencer reunited with Burdett & Potter at F&C

Aberdeen's Spencer reunited with Burdett & Potter at F&C

F&C Investments has hired Aberdeen Asset Management's Scott Spencer for its multi-manager team, headed by Rob Burdett and Gary Potter.

The move will reunite Spencer with Potter & Burdett, who recruited him for the multi-manager division they founded at Credit Suisse Asset Management back in 2004.

Spencer joined Aberdeen on its acquisition of Credit Suisse's fund business in 2009 and was responsible for the management of several multi-asset and single country funds at the Scottish fund firm.

In his new capacity Scott will play a key role in fund and asset allocation across the F&C MM Navigator and Lifestyle fund ranges, including the flagship F&C MM Navigator Distribution fund.

Overall the team runs £2.1 billion in assets, which includes a recent mandate win from Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust

Potter said in a statement: 'Scott joins at an exciting time for our team and the multi-manager industry as a whole. Investors are increasingly turning to these types of out-sourced solutions and this is a trend we expect will only continue.'

Burdett added: 'Scott is a great addition to our team and he brings with him a wealth of funds and sector knowledge. Having worked with us previously, we know he will fit in very well with our long-established team and investment philosophy.'
