Citywire Wealth Manager is for investment advisers, wealth managers and stockbrokers whose main focus is choosing the right investments for their clients. The same editorial team also produces the weekly Wealth Manager magazine.

Internationally ...

Citywire Global: is the publication and website of choice for leading investors and fund selectors.

How we make money

The first question you should ask any financial company! This is broadly how we earn our keep:

  • Advertising and sponsorship on the website
  • Advertising and sponsorship in our magazines for financial professionals
  • Sponsored events attended by financial professionals
  • Fund management companies pay us to license the Citywire Fund Manager Ratings. We never charge them to rate their managers - they only pay us if they want to license the Ratings.

Who we are

Citywire is the brainchild of our chairman Lawrence Lever, formerly financial editor of the Mail on Sunday and assistant City editor of The Times. David Turner, an experienced hand in financial publishing who joined in 2000, is chief executive.

Some other key people: commercial director George Ball, product development director Nick Collard and Richard Lander, head of new media.

A few of our non-executive directors: Mark Wood, is the former chairman and chief executive of ITN and is now CEO of Future Plc; Nicholas Berwin was a top City investment banker who now devotes a lot of his time, free of charge, to the arts; Kevin Gundle runs a business investing in hedge fund fund of funds. He is a driving force behind ARK, the hedge fund charity which raises millions for disadvantaged kids around the world.

In total, around 145 people work at Citywire – if you’re interested here are a few random pics of them Most work at our Head Office in London, but we are expanding rapidly overseas with offices in Singapore and Munich.

Fancy joining them? Check out our jobs page, complete with a rather wonderful video on what it's like to work for is, including perks such as free fruit.

Many of the people who work here own shares in the company. Thomson Reuters, the world renowned news agency and financial information group, bought a quarter of our company in 2001.

8 reasons why you can trust us

  1. We’re completely independent of any financial organisation and are therefore 100% objective – no affiliate links, and no kickbacks for recommending products.
  2. We’re one of the few financial publishers to have a licence from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to give advice.
  3. We started up in 1999 – so we have age and experience on our side.
  4. We invest heavily in quality editorial and believe we have the best team of financial journalists in the business. As well as being registered with the FCA, our writers take the same exams needed to become a financial adviser or investment manager.
  5. We’re widely respected within the financial community – proven by the stack of awards we’ve won including the team award for excellence in investment writing from the Investment Management Association on six occasions since 2005.
  6. We’re particularly proud of our unique Fund Manager Ratings which we founded more than 10 years ago. They track the performance of more than 8,000 different fund managers to identify who’s most capable of looking after your money. Unlike many ratings companies, we avoid conflict of interest by rating everyone – we don’t accept payment for ratings, just for the right to use them in promotional literature.
  7. Our readers are just as passionate as us about making the most of their money – they’re an opinionated, well informed and helpful lot who regularly share their advice and views on our forums and our articles.
