Asia veteran exits Walter Scott

Asia veteran exits Walter Scott

Ian Howie has left Walter Scott and Partners in Edinburgh after 20 years at the firm.

Howie was an investment manager at Walter Scott and focused on Asian equities, having joined the business in 1993.

Howie has been consistently + rated by Citywire since the start of the year for his work as a portfolio manager on the £95 million Threadneedle Global Equities fund, which is run by Walter Scott.

Over the past three years the fund has returned a top-quintile 34.8%, compared with an average of 19.1% from its peer group of 1,900 competitors.

Howie’s responsibilities have been assumed within the wider investment team at Walter Scott, which is headed by Roy Leckie and Charlie Macquaker.

The boutique was sold by its eponymous founder Walter Scott to BNY Mellon in July 2006, with Scott reported to have made around £260 million from the deal.

As revealed by Wealth Manager last year, Scott has since established a new investment business called Scott Investment Partners based in Henley-on-Thames.
