Barclays employee arrested for suspected murder

A Barclays employee has been arrested over the alleged poison of her mother.

According to the Daily Mail, Kuntal Patel, who works in Barclays' London headquarters in Canary Wharf, appeared before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, accused of attempted murder.

She was arrested on 26 January and it is alleged that she attempted to kill her mother, Meena Patel, with a rare poison extracted from the seeds of a Peruvian plant.

Patel is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 21 February.
